Major Scholarship Preparation Program

 The Honors Program helps students from Clarkson University to apply for competitive, merit-based scholarships and fellowships, both for undergraduates and for graduate school.   Many of these prestigious scholarships require institutional sponsorship, and therefore students must apply through the designated Clarkson faculty representative.  They are extremely competitive and require considerable preparation ahead of the application deadlines, ideally up to a year for the most prestigious international scholarships.  We provide the following assistance: 

  • Information on selected major scholarships and fellowships
  • Assistance with development of application materials
  • Regular feedback on application essays (to the appropriate extent allowed by the scholarship institution)
  • Mock interviews to prepare students for the competitive interview process

Barry Goldwater Scholarship (

Eligibility: Sophomores and Juniors

Application Available: Sept. 5, 2017

Internal Deadline: Dec. 1, 2017; National Deadline: Jan. 26, 2018

Udall Scholarship (

Eligibility: Sophomores and Juniors

Application Available: Oct. 1, 2017

Deadline: March 15, 2018

NSF Graduate Research Fellowship

Eligibility: Seniors 

Application Available: Early August

Deadlines for all fields vary from Oct. 23 to Oct. 27, 2017

Fulbright Grants (

Eligibility: Seniors

Internal Deadline: Sept. 15, 2017; National Deadline: Oct. 11, 2017

Rhodes Scholarship (

Eligibility: Seniors

Deadline: October 5, 2017

Eligibility: Seniors
